It's optional, bt some monster effects make it mandatory, like Gravity Warrior.

Yup Gravs effect is mandatory any card that says ''can and must'' or just ''must attack'' is mandatory

Anything outside of that is your choice to skip it

I don't think Gravity Warrior forces you into Battle Phase, it probably forces monster to attack during BP. Entering BP is optional though.

No Gravity warriors effect forces you to not skip the battle phase as it must attack

hmm, to activate gravity warrior effect, i think it need to get to battle phase first before it can activate the effect of 'must attacking'.

gravity warrior's effect " Once per turn, during your opponent's Battle Phase: You can target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change it to face-up Attack Position, also it must attack this turn, if able." you activate in the battle phase and battle phase is optional so it doesn't force you to go into the battle phase.

For that one your opponent needs to be in their battle phase, but for effects like All-Out Attacks', your opponent NEEDS to attack with those monsters, so they can't skip the battle phase.

Just to clarify, the person who posted the correct answer to this thread is Rebecca. You cannot force your opponent to attack in the battle phase. But, to understand this you must read the monster's effect. If Gravity warrior says "Must attack if able" it means that if you enter the battle phase it must attack. You still have the option of skipping the battle phase. Unless of course a card says you cant. Berserk gorilla is one of these cards.
If you do not wish to enter the Battle Phase, you must immediately go into your End Phase, without going into Main Phase 2.
