Now this question came up after watching DragonDuelistGirl's video on missing the timing. I completely understand how her example worked: Tour Guide's effect activates, Torrential is chained. Tour Guide's effect is chain link 1, Torrential is Chain link 2. Torrential destroys Tour Guide, then Tour Guide proceeds to summon a fiend-type from the deck to the field.

I'm just a little unsure as to why she gave this example and it makes me question this: Can you activate Torrential Tribute after Tour Guide's effect resolves? I don't see why not, for Tour Guide's chain would resolve without interruption, the game state would return to normal, and the last thing to occur was a monster being summoned. So Torrential's trigger was met, therefore can start a new chain as chain link 1, correct?

I was just a little confused on the example maybe because it was a really dumb one. Why would anyone activate Torrential as chain link 2 to Tour Guide's effect? Why not activate it to destroy both? Also, would Tour Guide miss timing if upon the normal summon of Tour Guide, the opponent activated Torrential Tribute as Chain Link 1? Or would Tour Guide still have time to activate as chain link 2 to summon a Sangan they want hit by Torrential? Really confused on all this so any clarification would be appreciated.

Some may prefer not to hit Sangan with Torrential I guess.
You can activate Torrential on either occasion (since both summons are reactable summons).

On a side note, you cannot Chain to a summon, but you can react to it.
Therefore if you are chaining, you would be chaining to the activation of Tour Guide's effect, since they both activate on the same event.

My best guesses (emphasis on GUESS) is with Tour Guide vs Torrential is two possible scenarios:

1- Tour Guide is normaled. Torrential Tribute is activated in response to the summon, Tour Guide chains with it's effect and summons Sangan from Deck. Chain resolves backwards and field, including Sangan, is wiped. Sangan's effect activates.
or
2- Tour Guide is normaled, Tour Guide's effect is activated. Torrential is chained to activation of effect. Chain resolves backwards and Sangan is summoned after resolution.

I think both are plausible circumstances, just depends on when the opponent wants to use it.

You can ativate Torrential Tribute in response to the Level 3 Fiend type's special summon to destroy both.
